bell - zen barn

The Zen Barn is built in a historical and eclectic Ottawa neighborhood. The linear composition of the home is interrupted by the vertical volumes of light wells, the stairs, and the courtyard. The resulting interpenetration of views, light and space along the south side of the home creates strong indoor-outdoor connections. The Bell pendant lamps were chosen to provide a sense of whimsy, and elegance at the same time to the house. The street presence is enhanced dramatically with by the colors at night, while the interiors benefit by having sculptural focal points in some of the open and voluminous spaces.
